Frequently asked questions
How does QuickLink Pro integrate with the WordPress block editor?
QuickLink Pro seamlessly adds your custom external links directly into WordPress's native link suggestion interface. When you open the link dialog in the block editor, your saved external links appear alongside WordPress's regular internal link suggestions, making the experience completely natural and intuitive.
Does QuickLink Pro slow down my editor?
No. QuickLink Pro is lightweight and optimized to work efficiently with WordPress's native link functionality. It doesn't load any additional JavaScript until you actually need to insert a link, ensuring your editing experience remains fast and responsive.
How many external links can I save?
There's no practical limit to the number of links you can save. However, we recommend focusing on your most frequently used links to keep your link suggestions relevant and easy to find.
Can I organize my links into categories?
Currently, QuickLink Pro focuses on providing quick access to your saved links through title-based search. While links can't be categorized, you can use consistent naming conventions to make specific types of links easier to find.
Do I need to manually update my saved links if the destination URL changes?
No. Since links are managed centrally through the QuickLink Pro settings page, you only need to update a link once, and the change will apply everywhere you plan to use that link in the future. However, this won't change links you've already inserted into your content.
What happens if I deactivate QuickLink Pro?
Any links you've already inserted into your content will continue to work normally. You'll only lose the ability to access your saved external links through the link suggestion interface. If you reactivate the plugin later, all your saved links will still be there.
Is QuickLink Pro compatible with page builders?
QuickLink Pro is specifically designed to work with the WordPress block editor (Gutenberg). While the links you save can be used anywhere, the quick-insertion feature is optimized for the native WordPress editing experience.
How is QuickLink Pro different from bookmark managers or other link plugins?
QuickLink Pro is specifically designed for content creators who frequently reference the same external links. Unlike general bookmark managers, it integrates directly into your editing workflow. And unlike other link management plugins that focus on affiliate links or link cloaking, QuickLink Pro is focused solely on making the process of inserting external links faster and more efficient.
Can I import my existing collection of links?
While there isn't currently a bulk import feature, you can easily add links through the straightforward admin interface. This ensures each link is properly validated and correctly formatted as you add it to your library.
Does QuickLink Pro work with WordPress Multisite?
Yes, QuickLink Pro is compatible with WordPress Multisite installations. Each site in the network can maintain its own separate collection of frequently used links.
Will this plugin affect my site's performance?
No. QuickLink Pro is lightweight and only loads its functionality in the admin area when editing content. It has no impact on your site's front-end performance or page load times.
Instructions
Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress.
Navigate to Settings > QuickLink Pro to access the link management interface.
Click 'Add New Link' to begin building your link library. For each link, provide a descriptive title that will help you identify it in the editor and the complete URL.
To use your saved links while editing, simply highlight text in the block editor and click the link button in the toolbar (or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+K / Cmd+K).
As you type in the link search field, QuickLink Pro will display matching links from your saved collection alongside WordPress's regular link suggestions.
Click on any saved link to instantly insert it into your content.
To update a saved link, return to Settings > QuickLink Pro, locate the link in your library, and edit either its title or URL. Future insertions of this link will use the updated information.
To remove a link from your library, click the 'Remove Link' button next to it in the Settings > QuickLink Pro interface. Note that this won't affect any instances where you've already used the link in your content.
For multisite installations, repeat the link setup process for each site where you want to use QuickLink Pro, as link libraries are maintained separately for each site.
If you need to deactivate the plugin, don't worry - all links you've already inserted into your content will continue to work normally.
To ensure optimal performance, consider periodically reviewing your link library to remove any outdated or unused links.
